Privacy Policy

Calypsoroom (“Calypso”, “Service”, “Software”, “Platform”, “Site”, “Website”, “We” or “Us”) cares about Your privacy. By the nature of the Platform, Calypso will be available only from Your browser. There is no need to download and install any application in order to use the Service and We do not access Your personal contacts’ list. In this document We explain how Your personal information is collected, used and disclosed by Calypso and its affiliate. For the purposes of EU data protection law, Calypsoroom, located in “James's Walk 31 Apt.9, Dublin, D08F973, Ireland”, is the controller of a personal data processed in the context of the Service. Once You access or use our Service, it means that You have read, understood and agreed to this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Service and our Cookies Policy. We reserve the right to amend this privacy notice at our discretion and at any time. When We make changes, We will post the updated notice on the Website and update the notice’s effective date. Continuing to use our Service, after the new terms will be published, means that You are in agreement with the changes.

Although You will be able to choose what information to provide to Us, please bear in mind that some information is required in order to use Calypso, and for Us to provide the Service to You.

Information that We collect and use

By the social nature of the Platform, We gather information like the people You follow, the research You do, and the music You have been listening to inside the Platform. We collect information from Your browser, computer, or mobile device, which provide Us with technical information when You use the Service. We automatically collect certain log data like: browser type, hardware type and Your activities within the Service. The above mentioned log data are usually used for security purposes and to improve our Service.

We use cookies to distinguish You, identify Your interest and Your account and its status and settings, to collect usage data, keep track of Your preferences and deliver content specific to Your interests. For example, We use cookies in order to remember Your language settings, search history, password and email You used to log in in order to keep You logged inside the Service and so on.

Under the GDPR regulation, You will always be able to manage Your cookies preferences but please bear in mind that if You decide to remove or block cookies, it may affect Your ability to use our Service.

We do not actively collect or otherwise process special categories of personal data as identified in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) including data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade-union membership, or genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation.

We do not actively collect or otherwise process personal data relating to criminal convictions and offences.

Information that You provide to Us

When You create a Calypsoroom account, We collect and store personal information You provide to Us, including Your profile picture, User nickname, date of birth, email address, password, country. Only Your profile picture, User nickname and country will be publicly available on the Service. Please note that if You choose a nickname that includes and reveals Your name or any other personal information, this will publicly available on the Platform. Calypso lets You connect and interact with others, so Your profile pictures, nickname, country and online status will be publicly available by default when You access and use the Service. This information can be used to contact You for Service updates, notification about Your account and marketing purpose and/or identify You and/or to respond to You about any question or comment You have submitted. We save Your information as long as Your account is active.

Contact Us at contact(at)calypsoroom(dot)com if You wish to delete Your account permanently from our database. In case You decide to delete Your account by Yourself, You will always be able to do so from Your account, and We guarantee the automatic destruction of Your personal information stored within our servers (email, nickname, date of birth, profile picture, nationality). It is possible that, one You delete Your Calypso account, Your information will still show up in some Internet search results for a short while after the account deletion. That’s because search engine maintains a temporary cache of web pages. These processes are outside of our control and for that We do not have any responsibility for any information that remains cached by search engines after such information has been removed from the Platform. We reserve the right to terminate Your account if it has been inactive for 30 days.

Your activities and interactions with other users (not the live streaming music sessions) in Calypsoroom are all collected by the system. To stream Your music session, We will need to access Your device camera after Your permission. No face filter, stickers or tracker lens are used in Calypsoroom and We do not collect, store and/or use the User’s facial geometry. Be reminded that Calypso is a video chat music streaming Service. Streaming, by definition, is a method of transmitting data from the Internet directly to users’ devices in real time, without the need to download or save anything. We do not record, store and/or collect Your streaming music session in Calypsoroom. We do not record, store and collect text chat between users in a music streaming session. You take the responsibility of all the personal information You may share during a streaming music session in Calypso with other users. We don’t recommend pressing any link that other users will share with You in Calypso through text chat. In case You do that, We have no responsibility for the nature of websites, services, applications or others that the above-mentioned links will direct You to.

Is important to You to understand that with the contemporary technologies, video and chat sessions may be recorded and re-broadcast, through third party websites. We cannot prevent this from happening, so We encourage You to follow our Terms of Service guidelines.

Personal information We collect from third parties

If You register for Calypso using a third-party application, such as Facebook, You give Us permission to collect your authentication details, such as Your username and encrypted access credentials, as well as any other personal information accessible through the third-party application account, such as your email address, profile photo, birthday, and any publicly accessible information about You and Your Facebook friends. According to the provisions of Facebook’s Privacy Policy, Calypso has access to the data that Facebook has gathered and transmitted to it.

How We use Your information

We use these information to improve, support, customize and market our Service. We may use Your email address to send You information about the Service, provide customer support or to notify You of additional product owned by Us. You may stop receiving any marketing email from Us, by unsubscribing from the mail list once a marketing email reached out over to You. We use the data We have to identify ways to make our Service better and more engaging for our users. Data is important to identify and respond to potential risks to our users and Service (like for example spammers, phishing, screen scraping, bullying and other violation of applicable law and/or our Terms of Service). We may conduct survey or contests (participation from Your side is 100% voluntary), and in order to do that We may need access to the information We stored about You like for example Your email address. Your information will be used for costumer and technical support when needed and to enhance safety and security of our Service.

We will disclose You information to external parties in case they are required in connection with any legal investigation or legal complaint in case it is reasonably necessary to protect the safety of any person, to address fraud, security or technical issues, to protect Calypso’s rights or property and or/ to investigate in preventing any violation or potential violation of the law, this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Service, and our Cookies policy.

We may need to share Your information externally with third party service providers for the purpose and activities specified in this Privacy Policy. This may include transferring information collected within the European Economic Area to outside of the European Economic Area, including the United States, even though such transfer will always be limited to the purposes and activities specified in this Privacy Policy. Your information may therefore be subjected to privacy laws that are different from those in Your country of residence.

In certain cases, We may use a legal mechanism known as “standard contractual clauses” to protect information transferred outside the EU. Standard contractual clauses refer to contracts between companies transferring personal information that contain standard commitments approved by the EU Commission protecting the privacy and security of the information transferred. We may share some or all of Your information in connection with, or during negotiation of, any merger, financing, acquisition or dissolution, transaction or preceding involving sale, transfer, divestiture, or disclosure of all or a portion of our business or asset. In the event of insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership, information may also be transferred as a business asset. For the ownership of our business changes, We may transfer Your information to the new owner so they can continue to operate Calypsoroom and provide services. The new owner will be obliged to comply with this Policy.

Security and Storage of Information

All Your personal information will be stored on our EU servers. We will keep Your information safe, and We guarantee the encryption of any information using secure socket layer (SSL) technology. We will take the necessary measures if any information under our control is going to be compromised by investigating the situation. No face filter, stickers or tracker lenses are used in Calypsoroom meaning that We do not collect, store and use the User’s facial geometry. We may engage with third party companies, sharing with them usage data anonymously (that won’t identify You specifically) with the purpose, without limitations, of: maintenance Services, database management or web analytics to assist Us in analysing how our Platform is used, etc. We use third parties providers (some of them located outside the European Economic Area “EEA”) in order to provide the Service. The information shared between Us and such third parties provider do not identify You directly as data is de-identified and/or aggregated.

We use many best practice security measures to keep Your data safe including private networking, firewalling, role based access controls, authentication, backups and monitoring. When Your data is moved off of our servers for any reason We leverage the best means available to Us to make sure Your data is secure in transit. Furthermore, We will limit the number of people who have access to the database in which Your personal data is held.

The Service may contain links to external websites. Clicking on any of those third party links the Service will direct You to their pages. We recommend You to review and accept their own Privacy Policy and Terms of Conditions before navigate them. We are not responsible and We have no control over any policies and practices associated with these websites.

European Privacy Rights

If You are a European citizen, residing in the EU/EEA, You may exercise the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by sending an email to privacy(at)calypsoroom(dot)com, but please be aware We may ask You to provide Us with further personal documentation about You (passport, social identification number, etc.).

Data Access and Portability Rights. By creating Your own account in Calypso, We store personal information about You. You may be entitled to request copies of such information in a machine-readable format, even though they will be always accessible from Your personal account.
Data Change or Correct Rights. In the event You cannot change and/or correct Your information by Yourself, You can ask Us to correct, change, update or rectify them on Your behalf.
Data Retention and Deletion Rights. Feel free to delete Your personal account anytime from Your setting page but anyway, You may ask Us to delete and/or modify the information We hold about You. In some cases, We will need to retain some of Your information to comply with any sort of legal obligations (taxes, prevent fraud, security). Once such legal obligations will be satisfied, We will delete any of Your information from our records.
Rights to Object the Processing of Your Data. You have the right to ask Us not to process Your personal information for marketing purposes by clicking the “unsubscribe” button on any promotional email sent by Us.
Rights to Restrict the Processing of Your Data. You, in some circumstances, may be able to restrict/limit the way in which We use Your personal information.

Children’s Policy

Calypsoroom won’t be accessible for children under the age of 18. When You create a Calypso account, the truthfulness of the information You enter into the system is under Your full responsibility. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 18. Contact Us at contact(at)calypsoroom(dot)com as soon as possible if You think that a child under the age of 18 gained access to the Service. We will do our internal investigation deleting the account if proven that a child under the age of 18 has generated it.
